We have been looking for opportunities to intervene in related cases where we hope to influence the court to make rulings based on our view of what our Charter rights mean for us. The most recent case we intervened in is Attorney General of Québec v Lalande, which is a challenge to the decision by the Québec government in 2024 to suspend the recommendations of their electoral boundaries commission because they recommended removing seats in areas of declining population and adding them to growing areas. The Appeal Court ruled that this was unconstitutional, and the province is appealing to the Supreme Court. We are arguing that the Appeal Court got it right. Check out our argument below:
