Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Thanks to our amazing supporters (over 1400 Canadians have collectively contributed about $300,000 since 2019) we've raised all the funds we've needed to pursue this case all the way to applying to the Supreme Court for leave to appeal the expected ruling from the Court of Appeal for Ontario (currently expected in spring 2025).
Pledge Campaign for Supreme Court
If the Supreme Court agrees to hear our case, we'll need to raise another $60,000 ($35,000 in Phase 1 to prepare and file our Notice of Appeal and our written arguments, and $25,000 in Phase 2 to prepare for and actually appear in the Supreme Court).
But since we don't know yet whether we'll need these funds, we're asking supporters to pledge their support instead and pay only if the Supreme Court decides to hear our appeal.
Launching our "Future Initiatives" Fund
While we wait to hear from the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, we're turning our attention to new initiatives. While it's too early to share our thinking in detail, we're investigating various ways to engage a much larger number of Canadians in discussing how to improve our voting systems. We estimate that these initiatives will end up costing several tens of thousands of dollars. If you're interested in helping us build up a reserve that would help us launch one or more of these initiatives, please consider contributing to our Future Initiatives fund below. By doing so, you'll be among the very first to know about our next project. And, while we're a lean organization with no paid employees, we still have operating expenses of a couple thousand dollars a year, and we'd appreciate help with these costs. Of course, all contributions above $25 in a year will generate a charitable tax receipt.
